Champion Uno returns home to visit elderly woman

PEORIA -- Uno, the first beagle to win best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club -- the nation's biggest canine competition -- has won over the heart of 91-year-old Rosemary "Rosie" Kramm of Peoria.

Kramm says the minute she saw Uno, she thought there's the dog. She says she never believed she would ever see a champion.

A crowd favorite from beginning to end, he charmed New York City into a five-minute ovation when he took it all on February 12. He beat out two poodles, a terrier, a Weimaraner, an Australian shepherd and an Akita to be named best in show.

Uno's breeder, Kathy Weichert, owns K-Run Kennels in Belleville and is one of the dog's four co-owners known collectively as "Team Uno."
