Stop cop profiling of young drivers

I would like to comment on the practice of police profiling late-night young drivers.

My son on two different occasions has been given what I consider profiling tickets just because he has been driving late at night.

The first ticket was for illegal lane usage when instead of turning right onto a four-lane street and turning into the closest lane, he turned into the farthest lane only because another quarter-mile down the road, he had to make a left turn.

The second one just occurred and this one just gets my blood boiling.

He's driving home from a movie at 2 a.m. and lo and behold, a Rolling Meadows finest starts following him at a close distance and, after a half mile of this, pulls him over and issues a ticket for that terrible offense of a license plate light being out.

What next? Tickets for having your tires under inflated?

I have tried to get a response from the officer who gave my son the ticket.

The chief said my son "must have done something" because why else would he get pulled over?

He also said the ticket seemed a little ridiculous.

Well, if he did do something, why wouldn't he have gotten a ticket for that certain something he did?

Something needs to be done to get some police officers to quit targeting the innocent youth of today and wasting time alienating the future of this country.
