Dangerous error in record-keeping

According to a Jan. 30 story in the Daily Herald, 110,000 AK-47s, 80,000 pistols, and half of the body armor and helmets issued to Iraqi troops were probably diverted to insurgents due to incomplete record-keeping. The cost for the lost weaponry alone is staggering. But also consider the potential loss and damage to American lives. Talk about death by friendly fire!

Why not subcontract the IRS to keep track of such inventory? Can you fathom them buying "incomplete record-keeping" as my lame excuse for low-reported income or failure to pay taxes owed?

We are talking big bucks and large numbers here. I am hoping sometime in the near future Washington will report that this fiasco really didn't happen after all. The early report was just due to "inaccurate and inadvertent human error." This sort of "glitch" can do wonders for prolonging the need for keeping our troops in Iraq.
