Costs of Iraq War hurt U.S. economy
According to the latest polls, the main thing on the American people's mind now is not the Iraq War, but the economy. But it is not an issue of either the war or the economy; it is both the war and the economy.
The latest studies show that 43 percent of our budget goes to the military engaged in the war, the war that McCain says could go on for as long as a 100 years.
You cannot continue to pour billions of dollars into a failed war and not expect it to affect the economy.
It is important to remember also that our economy of riches also includes human lives -- 4,000 of our young men and women, and their families grieving for the rest of their lives.
It also involves thousands of injuries, mentally and physically. It involves billions that have been stolen from our citzens right to health care and education.
It involves the future of our country as our children will be burdened with paying off this debt.
It involves the security of our country as each day we are illegally in Iraq produces more terrorists and people who hate the U.S.A. around the world.
If we want the economy to survive, we need to end the war now.
