Briefs: Tax applications available
Real estate tax deferral applications are available through the Kane County treasurer's office. This is the 24th year of the program that permits qualified senior citizens to defer all or a portion of their real estate taxes. Once completed these forms should be returned to the treasurer's office on or before March 1. To qualify a person must be 65 or older by June 1, have a total household income of $50,000 or less, have lived on the property for at least three years, not owe any delinquent property taxes and have proof of homeowners insurance. St. Edward special auction
St. Edward Central Catholic High School will hold its 19th annual Tidal Wave Auction/ Dinner Dance April 19 at the Stonegate Centre in Hoffman Estates. The theme will be Puttin' on the Ritz. All alumni, family and friends are invited to attend the event, which includes dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions. To donate an item, place an ad in the auction catalog, become a sponsor or attend, call the Tidal Wave hotline at (847) 741-7535, ext. 123. Proceeds will benefit scholarships, expenses and enhancements to the school.
E. Dundee offers college aid
The East Dundee Dynegy Scholarship applications are now available at East Dundee's village hall, 120 Barrington Ave. This scholarship recognizes superior academic achievements for students planning on attending college. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from high school or a current college student attending at least part-time with a grade point average of 3.2 and who is an East Dundee resident. The recipient will receive $1,000 each year for up to four years. Applications are due on or before April 1. Call (847) 426-2822 for details.
