Elk Grove Village man arraigned on charges

An Elk Grove Village man accused of lying to police in a murder investigation is facing new criminal charges. Robert L. Edwards, 41, pleaded innocent Monday in DuPage County to possession of child pornography charges. He was released after posting the required 10 percent of a $100,000 bond. Prosecutors allege the illegal images of children were discovered on Edwards' computer during the murder probe. Edwards also is charged with lying to police about his whereabouts last March when 32-year-old Rebecca Klein was smothered in her Villa Park home. Her roommate, Nicole Abusharif, 27, is charged with first-degree murder. She maintains her innocence. Authorities said Abusharif and Edwards were former co-workers and friends.
