Elgin Community College notes

Elgin Community College's Division of Corporate and Continuing Education is offering two classes on Saturday to help battle everyday stress and frustration along with highway rage. Both classes will be held at the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

• Improving Frustration Tolerance (CED 447) will show how stress, irritability and anger built from work, school, family and other commitments can impact one's health and productivity. Participants will learn some strategies that can help improve their frustration tolerance skills. The class will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 114 of the Instruction Center (ICT).

• Dealing with Rageful Drivers (CED 448) will show participants how to separate what they can and cannot control while driving. Participants will learn a variety of coping skills. The class will be held from noon to 2 p.m. in Room 114 of the Instruction Center (ICT).

Both classes will be taught by Arne Anderson, owner of Montgomery-based Stress Perspectives. Anderson has more than 15 years of experience in training and development, and has provided results-oriented training for corporations, health care organizations and numerous professional groups.

Both classes can be taken individually for $39 each. The classes also are offered together (CED 449) for $69.

Trips

Elgin Community College's Corporate and Continuing Education Division will host a group trip to see a performance by the Blue Man Group on March 15 in Chicago.

The trip will leave ECC promptly at 2 p.m. Return time is approximately 8 p.m., depending on traffic, weather and unforeseen conditions.

Cost is $99 per person, and includes transportation on deluxe coach buses, tickets and a snack. Seating is limited.

Since beginning as an off-Broadway production in New York City, Blue Man Group has become a global attraction with shows currently running in New York City, Chicago, Boston, London, Toronto, Berlin, Las Vegas and Orlando, Fla. Part musical performance and part comedy, Blue Man Group incorporates instruments, multimedia graphics, paints, paper and sophisticated lighting to captivate audiences of all ages .

Registrations may also be made for a trip to Fort Atkinson, Wis. to see a production of "Anything Goes" at the Fireside Dinner Theatre on April 16. That tour will leave ECC at 8:45 a.m. and return to campus at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $99 per person.

All trips depart from the circle drive of the ECC Fox Valley University and Business Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, which is located at the intersection of Spartan and Lehr drives on the southwest side of the campus. Participants should gather in the UBC lobby.
