Judson players garner several CCAC honors

Garnering awards for their accomplishments this season, the Judson University men's basketball team took two of the top awards in the CCAC along with three first-team selections. Head coach Jim Cook earned the coach of the year award and Dewayne Robinson was named the league's most outstanding player.

Being named to the All-CCAC first team were Robinson, Ilija Bojanic, and Justen Boyd. Joe Gonnam was named to the all-CCAC honorable mention team.

In his final season as the men's head basketball coach, Cook claimed the coach of the year honor for turning around the Eagles. Last season, Judson finished 1-9 in the CCAC and in last place. This season, he guided Judson to its first-ever CCAC championship with a 10-2 record.

Robinson led the CCAC in scoring the entire season with an average of 20.8 points per game. He is also fourth in field goal percentage (53.1 percent), steals (1.8 spg) and assists (3.3 apg), fifth in rebounding (6.3 rpg), and 10th in free throw percentage (69 percent).

Bojanic is fourth in the CCAC in rebounding (7.2 rpg) and sixth in scoring (14.4). He is also fifth in blocked shots (0.92), ninth in 3-point field goals made (1.42), and 13th in 3-point field goal percentage (30 percent).

Leading the CCAC in assists at 4.9 assists per game, Boyd was also named to the all-CCAC first team. Currently in the CCAC he is second in field goal percentage (57.8 percent) and assist/turnover ratio (1.94), 14th in scoring (12.5 ppg), and 15th in free throw percentage (63.4 percent) and steals (1.2).

Judson will be vying for their first-ever CCAC tournament championship this week. The Eagles will host a second round game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Lindner Fitness Center.

Woman's basketball players earn CCAC honors: Picking up three awards in the CCAC were Judson women's basketball players Alicia Rovertoni, Kelly Friestad, and Kirstin Johns. Rovertoni was named to the all-CCAC first team.

Rovertoni won the rebounding crown for the CCAC at 8.6 rebounds per game. She is first in offensive rebounds (3.8), second in defensive rebounds (4.74), sixth in field goal percentage (46 percent), eighth in blocks (0.48 bpg), 14th in steals (1.3 spg), and 15th in scoring (9.9 ppg).

Friestad and Johns were each honorable mention selections.
