Cost of lake water will be too much

To the editor: Twice, Lake Michigan water was voted down. Now the city of Prospect Heights wants to force it on us, and pass the horrendous cost involved to the residents.

The people who want Lake Michigan water say it will increase the value of our property. Not so, if there is a glut of homes for sale in Prospect Heights when people realize they have been duped or worse yet, cannot simply afford to live here any more. Few potential buyers would be willing to assume that 20-year assessment to fund this folly.

Historically, projects of this nature are usually always under-estimated. No one can give us a firm answer until it appears on our tax bills.

Democracy in action? Not hardly when we are not allowed to vote on this! Please let the Prospect Heights City Council know how you feel about this breach in our government, and keep our water free!
