Arlington Hts. is one big eyesore
To the editor: I am so glad that someone else is finally addressing this unsightly corner of Arlington Heights Road and Golf Road. I have lived here 30 years and I would say at least half of that time this corner has been this way (blighted).
There are also two more corners not addressed. Northwest corner of Algonquin and Arlington Heights Road that also has an empty gas station and the Higgley's restaurant, and the northwest corner of Arlington Heights Road and Central Road,
The village was in such a hurry to build a new Village Hall, and now talk of a new police station, but can't get after blighted property owners.
Not just on these corners, mentioned above, but with homeowners also. Look around village people, I bet every one of you could find property in your neighborhood that is not in village code. Unpainted buildings and homes falling apart, cars parked and ticketed and not towed, cars in driveways broken down for months on end, eyesores, driveways with deep holes, in need of repair. Doesn't anyone care anymore?
The village is not doing the job that our tax dollars are supposed to be going for. We pay more and more taxes and we get less for our money.
I would love to work for the village. I could give you a very long list of property that is blighted, just on the south end of Arlington Heights.
