Fire damages Lincolnshire hotel
A flash fire caused smoke damage to a Lincolnshire hotel and injured one patron, officials said Saturday.
The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District responded to a call from Staybridge Suites, 100 Barclay Blvd., at 12:13 p.m., officials said.
Firefighters discovered a haze of smoke on the third floor of the hotel and found a flash fire had occurred in a kitchenette while a resident was heating oil in a pan, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire spokesman Paul Schebel said. The sprinkler system in the room had activated and extinguished the fire, saving the room and contents from a rapidly developing fire.
One resident sustained minor injuries and was treated and signed a release, Schebel said. Fire damage was contained to the room, and the hotel was able to resume normal operation after the incident.
