Doctors to discuss arrhythmia
On Monday, the Dundee Township Public Library will host two Alexian Brothers physicians who are experts in treating arrhythmia, or abnormal heart rhythms, for an overview presentation of possible causes and threats to health that such conditions may present to an individual.
Dr. Hemal Nayak and Dr. Deemy Rekkas will present "Do You Have Rhythm?" at 7 p.m. in the library's meeting room, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.
Nayak practices cardiology, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, and internal medicine in Elk Grove Village. Rekkas is also a cardiologist who specializes in general thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery.
They also will discuss a new procedure called arrhythmia ablation, which can eliminate potentially dangerous disturbances in the heart's rhythm that can lead to a heart attack or stroke and eliminate a lifelong dependency on blood thinner medications such as Coumadin and the negative side effects such drugs can produce.
Registration for the program may be made by calling AlexianConnects at (866) ALEXIAN or (866) 253-9426.
