Basketball players under investigation for sex assault

OTTUMWA, Iowa -- Police in Ottumwa, Iowa, are investigating whether basketball players from Chicago's Wright College sexually assaulted a woman while they were staying in Ottumwa for a basketball tournament.

According to court records, police received a report of the alleged rape of an Indian Hills Community College student at a hotel early on Dec. 2, according to court records. Ottumwa Police Chief Jim Clark confirmed Friday that authorities took DNA from basketball players from Wright, and are awaiting results before deciding whether to file charges. No one is in custody.

Clark says the two-month delay was due to a number of homicides in Iowa that are a higher priority than the sexual assault case.
