Harper delivers strong results at nationals

The Harper wrestling team is in a tie for seventh place after the first day of the National Junior College Athletic Association championships in Rochester, Minn.

Harper has 20½ points and is tied with Colby. Iowa Central has a commanding lead at 40½ points.

At 157 pounds, Harper's Bryan Jansen delivered a 3-2 victory over Stephen Gonzales of Clackamas.

Harper's Mike Dace pinned North Iowa's Aaron Hancock in 2:31 at 165 pounds.

At 174, Harper's Darius Williams pinned Iowa Central's Terry Overton in 2:47.

Shea Geadot of Harper earned a major decision over Jesse Evans of Minnesota West at 184 pounds.

The Hawks suffered defeats at both 197, where Danny Miller lost by fall, and at 285, where Alex Delonis lost a 14-8 decision.
