Improve coverage for mental illness

The horrible tragedy at Northern Illinois University has sparked increased debate about gun control in this country. I think it is as important, and would be more productive, to have a serious discussion about parity in coverage for mental illness. We have a long way to go in this country before individuals and families receive the same medical benefits for brain (it is an organ) disorders that they do for other illnesses. This would not be an entire solution to ending tragedies like the one at NIU, but it is a piece of the puzzle.
