Huntley man charged after porn search
A tip from a national agency for exploited children Thursday led state authorities to the home of 64-year-old Huntley man, where they say they found numerous computers and computer hard drives containing child pornography.
Stephen H. McConnaughay, 10618 Michael St., faces charges of dissemination of child pornography and possession of child pornography as a result of the early-morning search of his residence. He could be sentenced to 15 years in prison if convicted on both counts.
After the search of his home, McConnaughay was arrested and taken to the McHenry County jail, where he will remain overnight. He will appear in court and have his bond set this morning.
The arrest culminated an investigation that began when the Illinois attorney general's office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The attorney general's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, along with Huntley police, South Elgin police and the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, followed up on the tip, leading to the execution of a search warrant Thursday on McConnaughay's home.
Further charges against McConnaughay are possible, attorney general spokesman Scott Mulford said.
