Get your tickets for Barrington High's musical
Tickets are now on sale for this winter's Barrington High School musical.
This year, the school's fine arts department will present "Once Upon a Mattress," the musical version of the famous fable "The Princess and the Pea."
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 29 and March 1 in the school's Richard C. Johnson Auditorium, 616 W. Main Street. Matinee performances are also scheduled for 2:30 p.m. March 1 and 2.
Tickets -- $15 for adults and $10 for children -- can be purchased at the school's box office. Senior citizens are admitted for free.

Two scoops: Today is the last day to register for Barrington Park District's 13th annual Apple Raffle and Ice Cream Social.
The event, scheduled for 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. March 7, features entertainment for the whole family, apple desserts and of course, plenty of ice cream.
The night will conclude with a raffle of a variety of items from local businesses and area crafters.
Proceeds will benefit the park district's Children's Preschool Workshop. The event will be held in Langendorf Park's Barrington room.
No registration will be allowed at the door. Tickets range from $3.50 to $5 for children and $5.50 to $8 for adults.

Judges need: Barrington Area Unit District 220 is looking for residents willing to help volunteer as judges for this year's district wide speech tournament.
The tournament is scheduled for March 8 at Barrington Middle School Station Campus.
Judges are needed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be provided breakfast and lunch.

Trip to garden show for seniors: The Barrington Area Council on Aging and the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council are sponsoring a trip to this year's Chicagoland Flower & Garden Show at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont March 14.
The show, now in its 14th year, features theme garden displays, gardening seminars and a gardening marketplace where more than 200 garden-related exhibitors will display products and services.
Admission to the show also includes admission to the new Home Lifestyle Expo.
A bus will leave the Barrington office at 9 a.m. and return around 5 p.m.
Cost of the trip is $38 for both Barrington and Palatine council members.
