We need time for leaders like Kirk

I am a retired officer from the United States Army. I am a patient of the North Chicago VA hospital and have been since 1991.

I saw many years where there was no help for the hospital or our veterans from the senators and representatives from Illinois. They were no shows for everything.

Then Mark Kirk was elected to the Congress and things immediately started to change. He made promises to veterans and he still keeps those promises.

There have been numerous letters printed on this page questioning U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk's dedication to veterans. The irony is of course that Rep. Kirk is a veteran, while his opponent Dan Seals is not. I really doubt whether or not many of the previous letters opposing Congressman Kirk, were written by veterans of Congressman Kirk's district.

Congressman Kirk voted for the largest veterans funding increase ever last year. He worked with local veterans to save the North Chicago VA - a multiple year and on going battle. You also could ask the hundreds of veterans and veteran's families who he has helped retrieve disability benefits, pensions, aid and attendance and service records.

We don't need partisans without action and we clearly do not need change. Finally we are getting it done right! We need more time for action for leaders like Congressman Kirk.
