Update on the survivors

One more NIU shooting victim has been released from the hospital. Two students remain hospitalized.

Lauren Debrauwere of Lake Barrington: Remained in fair condition Wednesday, according to a news release from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Maria Ruiz Santana, 19, of Elgin: Remained in serious condition Wednesday at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, with multiple gunshot wounds to her head and torso.

Sherman Yau, 20, of Naperville: Was discharged Tuesday from Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. He had been airlifted to Good Samaritan with a single gunshot wound to his right shoulder and lung. While the Yau family has requested privacy as they focus their son's recovery, they did issue the following statement:

"We want to express our deepest sympathy to the students who lost their lives and to the students who were injured and extend our support for their families. We will unite in our healing."
