Last year: Sweden's Henrik Stenson beat 2006 winner Geoff Ogilvy 2 and 1 in the 36-hole final. Stenson also beat Zach Johnson, K.J. Choi, Aaron Baddeley, Nick O'Hern and Trevor Immelman. O'Hern beat Tiger Woods in the third round, ending Woods' PGA Tour winning streak at seven.

Last week: Phil Mickelson won the Northern Trust Open at Riviera, beating Jeff Quinney by 2 strokes for his 33rd PGA Tour title. Mickelson has won 16 times in California and Arizona.

Notes: Woods will open against FBR Open winner J.B. Holmes. Woods, the Buick Invitational and Dubai Desert Classic winner in his lone starts this year, won in 2003 and 2004 and also reached the 2000 final, losing to Darren Clarke. Woods has won seven of his last eight events, including his unofficial Target World Challenge. … Mickelson will open against Pat Perez.

Last year: Stacy Prammanasudh won her second LPGA Tour title, leading wire to wire en route to a 1-stroke victory over Jee Young Lee.

Last week: Annika Sorenstam won the season-opening SBS Open at Turtle Bay for her 70th LPGA Tour title and first since September 2006. She birdied two of the last three holes for a 2-stroke victory over Russy Gulyanamitta, Laura Diaz and Jane Park.

Notes: Michelle Wie, third in the 2006 tournament, is making her first LPGA Tour start since the Samsung World Championship in October. She received a sponsor exemption. ... Sorenstam also is in the field. ... Lorena Ochoa will open the season next week in Singapore in the HSBC Women's Champions.

Notes: The made-for-TV competition is in its third year as a team event after 18 years as a four-man individual tournament.
