Woman fights charge of beer bash for kids

An Algonquin woman accused of throwing a New Year's Eve beer bash for about 30 children between 12 and 14 years old pleaded not guilty Tuesday to 16 felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from the claims.

Yvonne Genovese, 33, asked for a jury trial on the charges, which included four felony counts of contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor, 11 misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a single count of criminal defacement of property, a misdemeanor.

Genovese and her attorney, John Ridgway, declined comment Tuesday.

Besides the Dec. 31 party, authorities allege Genovese took four minor girls to vandalize the home of another girl after that girl had posted information about the underage drinking party online.

Genovese, who faces a penalty ranging from probation to five years in prison if convicted on all charges, is free on $2,000 pending her next court date.
