Karis: a 'true public servant'
With the passing of the Grand Old Lady of Lake County, Adeline Geo-Karis, I'm left with thankful appreciation that she often exhibited the virtues of a true representative of the people in her district. Not that I agreed with all of Adeline's positions, but I do acknowledge that she often embodied the virtues of service and sacrifice.
Maybe it was because she was a member of the "Greatest Generation" that made her more of a true public servant instead of the typical politician today that wallows in the vice of pride and power. Or maybe it was Adeline's Orthodox faith that helped her to look at individuals as equals and not just as potential political friends or foes.
Her passing brings a touch of remorse in the notion that as our society slips further and further from its moral heritage, representatives like Adeline may be few and far between.
