Kiwanis to learn about banking
The Elgin Golden K Kiwanis will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St., Elgin.

Altrusa to present night of love songs
Altrusa International Club of Elgin invites the community to a "Night of Love Songs," at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1565 Larkin Ave., Elgin.
Artists will include Rise Jones, Betty Brown, Mary Ellen Kanies, Murna Hansemann and Ralph Cox. Refreshments will be served after the concert. For details, call (847) 742-6431.
Sign up is Saturday for Lutheran school
Good Shepherd Lutheran School will host a kindergarten roundup from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at its 1111 Van St. location.
This is an opportunity to visit the classroom and meet the teachers of the all-day kindergarten program. The teachers will share with parents what a typical day is like and answer any questions parents have.
Good Shepherd strives to meet the individual needs of children in the kindergarten classroom and provides a wide variety of learning experiences. Learn about what the all-day kindergarten program has to offer your child.
The school is accepting applications for the 2008-09 school year for preschool through eighth grade. Preschool and kindergarten both offer full-day options, and both locations offer after-school care.
