The briefs

Get your festival listed in brochure

Plan to be a part of our Summer Fun in the Suburbs brochure. It's time again for the annual Daily Herald publication, which lists local festivals being held throughout the summer and fall in Kane and McHenry counties.

The booklet, distributed in mid-May, is an item that families keep around the house for months and refer to when they have a free day or weekend for local fun.

Don't let your festival or event be left out. Deadline for submitting your free listing is March 12. Send an e-mail to foxvalley@dailyherald.com. Make sure you include the name of the festival or event, times and dates, and location.

Also tell us a little about the event, such as entertainment, food availability, craft fair, parade route or any specialty that will bring the crowds flocking to experience your event. Also tell us if there is an admission cost and where attendees can park.

If e-mail is not an option for you, fax the information to (847) 608-0849 or mail to Summer Fun in the Suburbs, c/o Daily Herald, 385 Airport Road, Suite A, Elgin, IL 60123.

Singers wanted for baseball season

Do you have a nice singing voice? Are you in tune with "Mom, baseball and apple pie?"

If you answered "yes" to these questions, American Legion Post 1231 wants you.

There are some openings on the list of volunteer singers called upon to sing the national anthem before Legion, Junior League and Little League games this season.

Game times vary and are played in McHenry County.

To arrange to meet with John White so he can hear you sing, call him at (815) 648-4843 or (847) 366-2022.
