Teen dies after snowmobile accident in Wisconsin

LAND O'LAKES, Wis. -- An Illinois teenager driving a snowmobile on a roadway has died in Wisconsin after crashing head-on into a truck, authorities said.

The victim's name wasn't released but the Vilas County Sheriff's Department identified him as a 16-year-old boy from Chicago.

Authorities received a call about the crash in the Town of Land O'Lakes about 12:20 p.m. Monday, deputies said in a news release.

The boy was apparently traveling on the roadway and crossed the center line near a curve, investigators said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The crash is under investigation.
