R&B singer at ECC for Black History Month

G.C. Cameron, an R&B singer and a former lead singer with The Spinners and The Temptations, will speak and perform Wednesday as part of Elgin Community College's celebration of Black History Month.

Cameron will be feted at a meet and greet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Advanced Technology Center Auditorium on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

A second presentation will take place at 7 p.m. Cameron will speak and perform at both events, which are free and open to the public.

Cameron's major hit was "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday," the theme song from the 1975 film "Cooley High" that has become a classic and was later covered by R&B group Boyz II Men.
