Cubs sue rooftop owner over revenue sharing
The Chicago Cubs have filed a federal lawsuit against the owner of two rooftop clubs across the street from Wrigley Field, claiming he hasn't abided by a revenue-sharing agreement.
The lawsuit alleges that Thomas Gramatis hasn't shared 17 percent of his rooftop revenue with the Cubs as called for under a 2004 settlement of previous litigation and paid nothing in 2007.
The lawsuit was filed Friday. In it the Cubs warned they might block the view of games from Gramatis' two buildings on Sheffield Avenue during the upcoming season.
The National League club, which is owned by the Tribune Company, estimates Gramatis' revenues could approach $7 million for 2008.
Neither Gramatis nor his lawyer could be reached Monday for comment.
