Frogs, Toads and Salamanders: Break the cycle of freezing temperatures, snow and ice with an early taste of spring as the Dundee Township Public Library Children's Department hosts a special event today called "Frogs, Toads and Salamanders."

For the school holiday, Randy Korb will bring his entertaining and educational show on amphibians, including Snappy the Salamander to the library's meeting room from 2 to 3 p.m.

Children in kindergarten and up can get acquainted with native frogs, toads and salamanders of Illinois. They will be able to hold, feed and listen to them. All children who want to will get a chance to hold frogs from spring peepers to big bullfrogs. Free tickets will be given out 30 minutes prior to the program.

Tremendous Twos: In March, the Dundee Township Public Library will begin a storytime series for 2-year-olds.

Called "Tremendous Twos," it will held on Wednesdays, March 5-26.

Two 20-minute sessions led by library staff will be offered for this age group, either at 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.

The children will listen to stories and be encouraged to participate in activities, fingerplays and songs.

The toddlers must be age 2 by March 5 and a mom, dad or caregiver must participate with the child. There is no charge for this storytime series.

Registration for "Tremendous Twos" will begin today and will continue until both sessions are full.

To register your child, either come to the children's department, call the library at (847) 428-3661, ext. 310 or register online at www.dundeelibrary.info.
