• Rachel Gunderson, daughter of Jeffery and Barbara Gunderson, Prairie View, is among 63 student members elected to join The Loras Alpha Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma, a National Scholastic Honor Society that invites college students earning a GPA of 3.7 or above to join. Gunderson is junior at Loras College.
• Jason N. Philipp of Buffalo Grove was named to the dean's list for the 2007 spring semester at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus, for achieving a grade point average of 3.66 or higher.
• Mark Samuel Nicksarlian of Long Grove was awarded a Certificate of Academic Excellence by Northern Illinois University's Academic Advising Center for achieving a grade-point average of 3.60 during the spring 2007 semester.
• Patrick Hughes of Buffalo Grove graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., at the end of the May 2007 semester with a bachelor's degree in automotive engineering tech and a certificate in performance motorsports.
• Kevin Murray, of Buffalo Grove, recently received a James W. Fitzgibbon Scholarship to study at Washington University in St. Louis. Murray, one of only three Fitzgibbon scholars this year, is a freshman in the university's college of Architecture in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts.
• Steven Solomon of Buffalo Grove was named a 2007 Love of Learning Award recipient on Aug. 15 by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
• Natalie L. Chery of Wheeling, a business undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, was named to the dean's list for the May 2007 semester.
• Ed Slonim of Buffalo Grove, a senior math major at Monmouth College, has been named to the college's wind ensemble for the 2007-2008 academic year. Slonim, the son of Scott and Nancy Slonim of Buffalo Grove, will perform with the group at various functions throughout the academic year.
• Scott Spector of Buffalo Grove has been selected for the Millikin Chamber Chorale for the 2007-2008 academic year. Spector is a music education-vocal major and a graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School.
• Northern Illinois University in DeKalb announced the following students were awarded bachelor's degrees at the May 12 commencement ceremonies.
