The Centre of Elgin has activities for kids off school

Are you a parent looking for activities for your children on days off school? The Centre of Elgin offers a variety of programs designed just for you.

The Kids Day Off program is a full-day, supervised program offered from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 29.

Children will play games, make crafts, climb the wall, swim and watch a movie. Each child is expected to bring a lunch, snacks for the day and their swimsuit and towel

The program fee is $36 for residents and $42 for non-residents of Elgin. It is offered to all kids ages 5 to 12.

Adventure Island will open early at noon and close at its regularly scheduled time. Adventure Island features a flume slide, 3-meter diving board, 1-meter diving board, vortex, floor geysers and spray arch to entertain kids of all ages.

All facility and aquatic members will receive entrance as part of their membership fees. Resident prices for admission are $6 for children and $7 for adults. Nonresident prices are $7 for children and $8 for adults. At certain times throughout the day, portions of the pool may be closed for existing programs.

Children also may take advantage of the drop-in activities from 1 to 5 p.m., including open swim, rock climbing, open gym and use of the teen center all for only $10 for residents and $12 for others.

The field house will feature open gym from 1 to 9 p.m. Resident prices for admission are $4 for children and $8 for adults. Nonresident prices are $6 for children and $10 for adults. ID's will be required for admission for all patrons.

The Teen Center also will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $2 for residents of Elgin and $3 for others. The Teen Center is open to all youth ages 9 to 15.

The Centre's front desk is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. For details, call Brett Lind at (847) 531-7017.
