'Stop tampering with a good thing'

There are several bills in the Illinois House intended to water down the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act/"Smoke Free Illinois."

Each represents a giant step backward, and if adopted, would invite more exceptions…and more. Soon, Illinois could be right back where it started.

It amazes me that some elected officials, who can't seem to grasp basic public health principles, just can't stop tampering with a good thing. We should ask ourselves why they do it and what they gain. Hopefully, wise heads will prevail and these bills won't make it out of committee.
