Leave God out of political analysis
In reading the front page article in the Thursday, Feb. 7 Daily Herald by Jake Griffin -- "DuPage County turning blue?" -- I was struck by the comments of State Sen. Dan Cronin, an Elmhurst Republican and county GOP chairman. He stated, "Why would anybody in DuPage County want to turn blue? Why in God's name would they want DuPage to look like Cook County or Springfield?"
Why, I have to ask, did Sen. Cronin bring God into this? In DuPage, the home of Wheaton College, a Christian college, the Billy Graham Center, and probably more churches per capita than anywhere in the world, why would a conservative Republican of "God's party" dare use the Lord's name in vain?
What, pray tell, could Cronin have been thinking?
