Three Aurora residents charged in drug, sex sting at Elgin hotel
Three people were arrested on drug and sex charges late Wednesday and early Thursday at the Holiday Inn during a prostitution sting run by Elgin police.
Jessica A. Alvarez, 22, of 718 Medford St., Aurora, was charged with misdemeanor prostitution and felony possession of a controlled substance after cocaine was found, police said.
Heather Featherstone, 17, of 500 S. Brook St., Aurora, was charged with misdemeanor prostitution, police said.
Both were arrested at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, police said.
Steven Hawthorne, 40, of 2272 Fitchome, Aurora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and obstructing a police officer. He also was cited for driving without a valid license, improper backing and no insurance, police said.
Hawthorne fled the parking lot when he saw officers but got only a quarter of a mile before he was forced him into the parking lot of the Hampton Inn, police said.
Featherstone posted a $100 bond. Alvarez and Hawthorne were unable to post $2,500 and $3,500 bonds and were taken to the Kane County jail.
Featherstone has a Feb. 22 court date in Elgin. Alvarez and Hawthorne are scheduled to appear at the Kane County Judicial Center on March 3.
