Barrington Metra station may offer entrees to go

A new business in Barrington could make it easier for commuters to have hearty dinners at home with the family.

Village trustees have given final approval for Palatine-based Entrees By You to open a satellite store at the Barrington Metra station.

The business provides meals commuters can pick up when they get off to train, take home, heat up and eat.

"This is a way for commuters to just grab meals on their way home," said Julie Mueller, who owns the business with her mother Judith Mueller and sister Amy Olson.

Each month, Entrees By You offers customers up to 14 different meal choices for as little as $3 per person. February menu options include chicken fajitas, hoisin salmon and beef stew.

"They can either order ahead or just pick it up on the go," Olson said.

The meals will be assembled daily at the Palatine location and then taken to Barrington to be picked up between 4 and 7 p.m. nightly.

"We are trying to get people back to eating healthy dinners," Mueller said.

Barrington Village President Karen Darch said she thinks the business will offer commuters a great dinner option each night.

"It is greatly convenient," Darch said.

Entrees By You will be the second business -- joining the First Stop coffee kiosk --to make the Barrington train station home.

The new lease calls for Entrees By You to pay $385 in monthly rent to the village the first year. Costs will then rise 3 percent annually.

Olson said they hope to have the store up and running by the middle of March.
