Wheeling to push back Tuesday's meeting time
The Wheeling Village Board might push back its own meeting next week so residents can attend both it and a "State of the Park District" meeting earlier in the evening.
The park district address beings at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with refreshments served starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center, 333 W. Dundee Road. The meeting is scheduled to end around 7:45 p.m.
Because the village board meeting has also been pushed back to Tuesday because of President's Day on Monday, the board will likely start its meeting at 8 p.m. so residents and trustees can attend the park district event.
The meeting might also take place at the park district facilities but that decision will likely be made today or Friday.
Parks Executive Director Jan Buchs said the address is intended to give the community a snapshot of what the district has accomplished in 2007 and what it intends to get done this year.
A video will be shown on the last year, and some of the discussion of the future will be about redevelopment at Heritage Park.
Watch meetings online: Video footage of the various Wheeling government meetings can now be found online.
Residents with Comcast cable already can see broadcasts of village board and plan commission meetings, but anyone who wants to catch up can visit vi.wheeling.il.us and look for "On-Demand Video Webcasts."
Village Manager Mark Rooney said this is one of the first among a list of planned enhancements to the village's Web site.
Opening communication: Buffalo Grove is working on its own improvements to its Web site, vbg.org.
At its meeting last week, the board agreed to hire Civic Plus at a cost of $14,600 to provide consulting, design, development and training help for the site.
The staff hopes this will help the board and village communicate more effectively with residents.
Give your opinion: Lake County will hold several community forums to help residents learn about services and to provide feedback.
The first will be March 10 at the Division of Transportation, 600 W. Winchester Road in Libertyville, followed by a one March 18 at the Highland Park Country Club, 1201 Park Ave. West in Highland Park.
The northwest Lake County forum will be March 19 at Lake Villa Library, 1001 E. Grand Ave. in Lindenhurst. The southwest Lake County forum will be March 31 at the Ela Area library, Rooms A and B, 275 Mohawk Trail in Lake Zurich. The final forum will be at Warren Newport Public Library, 224 O'Plaine Road in Gurnee.
All begin at 6 p.m.
Anyone who wants to receive Lake County board e-mails can e-mail Commissioner David Stolman at dstolman@co.lake.il.us to be added to the list.
