Campus is immediately locked down. 3:15 p.m. Word on the shooting reaches professor Melissa Lenczewski's class from a student who got a text message. 3:20 p.m. University posts an alert on its Web site warning of a possible gunman and telling people to get to a safe area immediately. 4:05 p.m. NIU posts contact numbers for families. 4:14 p.m. NIU Web site reports the immediate danger is over. 4:50 p.m. Ambulances with wounded still arriving at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in Sycamore. 5 p.m. Two victims flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital.
