District 300 boundary deadline looms
If you live in new attendance boundaries in Community Unit District 300, Friday is the last day to decide if you want your kid to stay at his current school or attend a new school.
Current seventh-graders and high-schoolers can stay at their current school even if they live within new attendance boundaries -- provided they find their own transportation.
If your attendance boundaries have changed, you should contact your child's current school by the end of the day Friday to indicate if you wish to stay at the school.
According to District 300's estimates, allowing current students to remain at their schools, or grandfathering, will dilute the impact of boundary changes designed to remedy crowded schools on the district's east side.
But all students are not expected to exercise this option, and the full impact of grandfathering on enrollment in District 300 schools will not be known until after the Friday deadline has passed.
