Teen charged with sexually assaulting child

An Elgin teen Monday was accused of sexually assaulting a child in his home, police said.

Juan Carlos Flores-Lara, 19, of 469 S. State St., was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, police said.

If Flores-Lara is convicted of the two charges, he could spend 12 to 120 years in prison.

Police said the victim was under 10 years old.

Flores-Lara said in court Tuesday he was not a U.S. citizen. If he pleads guilty or is found guilty of either or both charges, he can be deported.

Flores-Lara was held in the Kane County jail on $35,000 bond with a Feb. 21 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
