Police refute reports of arrest in Tinley Park slayings case

Authorities say they haven't made an arrest in the fatal shooting of five women at a suburban Chicago clothing store.

Tinley Park Police Department Commander Rick Bruno says media reports of an arrest in the case are "incorrect." He says it's also not true that police have identified a suspect whom they want to question.

Bruno says the department has received hundreds of tips but none is more promising than any other. He hopes that incorrect information won't discourage a tipster who knows something from coming forward.

Tinley Park Mayor Edward Zabrocki also says he hasn't heard about any arrest in the case.

The February 2nd attack at a Lane Bryant store in Tinley Park left five women dead and another injured.

The Chicago Tribune was reporting on its Web site today that a U.S. Marshal's fugitive task force picked up a man from a South Side home early today and turned him over to the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.

The story says authorities identified the man because he closely resembled a man they were investigating on a parole violation warrant.
