Firemen extinguish Rolling Meadows townhome blaze

Crews from several communities extinguished a fire early Monday that started in the basement of a Rolling Meadows townhouse.

The call to 5534 Teaberry Court came in at 8:32 a.m., and the fire was out by 9:42 a.m., Battalion Chief Steve Klein said.

A resident was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights for treatment for smoke inhalation, but she was released later in the morning, he said. Her identity wasn't given.

Personnel from Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Palatine Rural and Rosemont departments assisted in putting out the blaze, which caused extensive damage on the first floor and structural damage in the basement, Klein said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is not suspicious, he said.
