Nicor Gas encourages qualified customers who are struggling to pay their heating bills to apply to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and benefit from the recently released $29 million in extra funding. Cops write 108 tickets

St. Charles police wrote 108 speeding tickets in traffic safety campaign through the month of January. Officers also wrote one seat belt citation, two citations for uninsured drivers, and nine other citations for miscellaneous moving violations. One person was arrested for driving without a valid license. The campaign targeted construction zones and was funded by an Illinois Department of Transportation grant.

'Elvis' to play Arcada

Elvis impersonator Donny Edwards will perform Saturday at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. The Love Me Tender Valentine's concert starts at 8 p.m. Accompanying Edwards will be Bobby Valli, performing a tribute to his brother, Frankie Valli, including the hits "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You." Coloring contest under way

The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce is having a coloring contest for children to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Entries will be accepted through Feb. 25, with five winners to be announced Feb. 29. Bridal expo coming

Be a weather watcher

Weather watchers can get training to become a volunteer weather observer Feb. 25 at the Kane County Extension office of the University of Illinois, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. The weather-tracking program is being coordinated by the Illinois State Water Survey and the National Weather Service. The training session, set for 7 p.m., is free to attend, but participants should register in advance. Those who go on to become volunteers will need approximately $25 in supplies. Call (815) 397-7714.
