Vehicle carjacked in Palatine

Palatine Police are looking for a man who stole a car after implying to the car's owner that he had a weapon.

About 11:15 a.m. Sunday, police say they got a call from 40-year-old man who reported another male had followed him into his apartment building on the 700 block of Rand Grove, grabbed him from behind a pressed a hard object into his back implying it was a weapon.

The man forcibly took the victim's car keys, then pushed him away, reports said. The suspect last was seen driving away on Old Hicks Road in the victim's blue, four-door, 2005 Nissan Altima.

The offender is described as a male, about 25 to 30 years old and 6 feet tall. He last was seen wearing a blue winter coat and a black knit cap.
