Kids' programs available for days off school
Are you a parent looking for activities for your children on days off school? The Centre of Elgin offers a variety of fun and exciting programs designed just for you.
The Kids Day Off program is a full-day, supervised program offered from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Children will play games, make crafts, climb the climbing wall, swim and watch a movie. Each child is expected to bring a lunch, snacks for the day, and a swimsuit and towel. The program fee is $36 for residents and $42 for non-residents of Elgin. It is offered to all 5- to 12-year-olds. The program will be available on Feb. 18, when students are off school.
Adventure Island will open (early) at noon and close at its regularly scheduled time. Adventure Island features a flume slide, a 3-meter diving board, a 1-meter diving board, vortex, floor geysers, and a spray arch to entertain kids of all ages.
All facility and aquatic members will receive entrance as part of their membership fees. Resident prices for admission are $6 for children and $7 for adults. Non-resident prices are $7 for children and $8 for adults.
At certain times throughout the day, portions of the pool may be closed for existing programs.
Children also may take advantage of the drop-in activities from 1 to 5 p.m. Drop-in activities include open swim, rock climbing, open gym, and use of the teen center, for $10 for residents and $12 for non-residents.
The field house will feature open gym from 1 to 5 p.m. Resident prices for admission are $4 for children and $6 for adults. Non-resident prices are $8 for children and $10 for adults. IDs will be required for admission for all patrons.
The Teen Center also will be open from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Prices for admission are $2 for residents of Elgin and $3 for non-residents. The Teen Center is open to all 9- to 15-year-olds.
