Don't have to accept illegal immigration

After reading the untrue statements made by John Dalton, I feel it is my duty to reply.

I am a lifelong resident of Elgin, having been born here in 1941. I have witnessed many changes in our town . I care not who takes up residence here, as long as they do it legally.

Over the past number of years, I have seen our neighbor hoods go greatly downhill. It is heartbreaking when you see areas where you grew up depressed by people who show no interest in maintaining these homes.

It is well known by the city that may of these homes are occupied by illegal immigrants who refuse to follow city codes. These are people the city of Elgin can do without.

I support what AFLA is trying to accomplish. I don't believe it's racist to expect people to be here legally and follow the laws of the United States. Never once have I ever read anything from Association for Legal Americans (AFLA) that is prejudice against Hispanics as a whole.

But as citizens, we will not tolerate illegal immigrants sucking our social programs dry, which is exactly what AFLA is also saying. If people from other nations can follow the laws when they come here, why do these people think they are so special?

Tossing the 'R' word about like potato

If you don't agree with John Dalton, you're a racist.

If you have the audacity to want to uphold U.S. law, you're a racist.

If you're against illegal immigration, you're a racist.

John Dalton likes to use the "R" word, because it's a hot potato, and he's hoping to intimidate people by using it. That's weak.

The only thing he's ever said that I agree with is that everybody has the responsibility to stand up at some point and say, " No, you don't speak for me."

Well, John Dalton, you don't speak for me!
