DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Chicago Wolves scored 2 power-play goals in the second period, and rookie goaltender Ondrej Pavelec made 31 saves to earn his first professional shutout, a 3-0 decision over the Iowa Stars on Friday night at the Wells Fargo Arena.

Pavelec (17-8-0), who is undefeated against Iowa (22-25-2-2) this season, picked up his third win in the last four games and second consecutive victory. That includes holding opponents scoreless for a period of 97:55. The 20-year-old's shutout win was the second for the Wolves this season.

The Wolves have won all three contests in Des Moines this season and four of their five matchups with the Stars.

Defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski tallied his 15th goal of the season to break a scoreless tie 6:56 into the second period.

Center Alexandre Giroux made it 2-0 with 10 seconds remaining in the second period when he converted on a breakaway.

Center Steve Martins added an empty-net goal with one second remaining in the third.
