Jewish
Temple B'nai Israel will host two lectures this month at the temple, 400 N. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora.
Shuli Eshel will present "Jewish Women in American Sports" at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
Eshel is a Chicago filmmaker who was born in Israel. She has made a film on the subject with Linda Borish. It reveals a legacy of Jewish women athletes, administrators and activists who confronted ethnic and gender stereotypes to change American society.
Roddy Frankel will present "The New Anti-Semitism" at 10:45 a.m. Feb. 24 at the temple.
Frankel follows the politics in Israel, and the state of affairs of anti-Semitism in the U.S. and the world.
The lectures are preceded by a brunch at 10 a.m. Suggested donation is $6.

Unitarian
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva will host a free showing of the film "What I've Learned about U.S. Foreign Policy" at 7 p.m. Feb. 15. The church is at 102 S. Second St. in Geneva.
The film is being shown as part of the "Friday Flick" series sponsored by the church's Social Justice Committee.
"What I've Learned about U.S. Foreign Policy" is a compilation of 10 video segments that challenges the assumption that the U.S. always fights for freedom and democracy. The film examines several aspects of U.S. foreign policy in recent decades.

Assembly of God
Sanctuary of Batavia is offering the 10-week Alpha Course from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays beginning March 6. The church is at 1S430 Wenmoth Road (a half block north of Main Street) in Batavia.
Participants will explore the Christian faith in an informal setting. Sessions include a meal, a presentation such as "Who is Jesus?" and a small group discussion.
