Chicago cop cleared of DUI

A Cook County judge has dismissed drunken driving charges against a Chicago police officer in connection with a fatal crash. Judge Donald Panarese said Friday there was "no indication" 34-year-old John Ardelean was drunk at the time of the Thanksgiving crash that killed two men. Ardelean had been charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence. He was off duty when his sport utility vehicle hit a sedan carrying three Cicero men. Twenty-two-year-old Miguel Flores and 21-year-old Erick Lagunas were killed. Twenty-one-year-old Reynaldo Barajas was injured.
