We all should be proud of Durbin
I debated whether to dignify Robert Laskero's letter of Jan. 18th with a response.
Still, I felt I had to speak up against his false characterization of Sen. Richard Durbin. I've been impressed with the way our senior senator puts partisanship aside in order to put Illinois first.
Does Robert really think the senator's call for an investigation of air traffic control at O'Hare after an increase in near misses "ruins" our state? Or that Durbin's taking on major corporations to protect the quality of Lake Michigan water is a "bad thing?"
Those actions, along with increasing fuel efficiency standards and increasing federal funding for the Consumer Product Safety Commission, sound constructive to me.
These are recent instances of the very many in which Durbin has made me proud to call him our senator; I wouldn't trade him for Joe Lieberman or anyone else.
