St. Charles man charged with attack on grandmother
A St. Charles man is accused of attacking his 91-year-old grandmother after she tried to stop him from stealing her car, police said Wednesday.
Brian D. Nord, 28, was being held in lieu of $185,000 bond on four felony charges stemming from the Dec. 2 incident on the 300 block of South Second Avenue.
St. Charles police spokesman Paul McCurtain said Nord stole his grandmother's 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix after taking the keys from her purse. When the elderly victim protested, Nord shoved her in the chest, kicked a table and broke her telephone "so she couldn't contact anyone," McCurtain said.
"He said she would never see him again because he was leaving the state," he said.
But Nord was arrested Tuesday night while at the Kane County Jail for an unknown reason, police said. He is charged with criminal trespass to a residence, residential burglary, aggravated battery and possession of a stolen vehicle, all felonies.
Additionally, Nord was charged with unlawful use of a credit card, forgery and theft stemming from an Oct. 3 incident in which he used a stolen credit card to shop at Charlestowne Mall in St. Charles, McCurtain said.
