Learn how to be a cancer society volunteer

The Fox Valley region of the American Cancer Society is hosting an information session for people who are interested in learning more about various volunteer opportunities.

Volunteers are needed throughout the Fox Valley to help provide services to cancer patients; plan fundraising events, including Relay For Life and the 2008 gala; educate the public on cancer prevention and early detection; and provide office and clerical assistance.

An orientation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the American Cancer Society, 143 First St., Batavia. Society staff and volunteers will lead a short presentation, including an overview of the society's programs and services, followed by a question and answer session.
